Candidate Positions

Bob with   Meeting with Bob Power, downtown business leader.

Candidate Statement

I am proud to live in Walnut Creek. With my wife and two sons, I moved here over 20 years ago because Walnut Creek is a wonderful place to live, work, play and learn.

As a community volunteer and leader for two decades, I have a strong understanding of our local values and priorities. I have coached youth baseball, soccer and basketball teams and served on the Little League and Northgate Boosters boards. I co-chaired the effort to create the Castle Rock Youth Sports Park. I have tutored English as a second language, volunteered for the Ygnacio Valley Library Friends and helped create our downtown public art walking tour, for which I am a docent.

In recent years, I have turned my passion for open space into action as President of the Open Space Foundation. I have served on the city’s Park, Recreation and Open Space Commission and Planning Commission. As our community has led in open space preservation, we must now be a leader in the development of a sustainable community.

As a Council member, I will apply my experience and balanced leadership approach to our community’s challenges and opportunities. I will work to improve our quality of life by protecting the character of our neighborhoods and traditional downtown, providing services for all ages, including our growing senior population, supporting our vibrant arts community, continuing the partnerships that strengthen our schools, and enhancing our parks, creeks, trails and open space areas – all while ensuring the fiscal well-being of the City. We must sustain our community’s economic vitality, and I strongly support local business yet understand that we must always seek solutions that manage traffic, parking and growth.

I ask for your vote and support so I can continue to serve our community.
